LA Pathway D: Critical analysis of computational texts and practices(Overview)

< Back to Building Block

Overview

In this project, the learner will read an introduction to critical analysis of computational texts and practices.

The prior introductory building blocks you explored set the ground work for understanding the computational thinking practices of Algorithms, Patterns & Data and Abstraction. This set of activities will challenge educators to think about ways to integrate critical analysis into the study of computational thinking and practices.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this activity, learners will be able to...

  • Make connections between the critical analysis of computational texts and computation practices.

    Vocabulary

    • Computational texts: describe, interpret and understand digital platforms as texts
    • Communication culture: refers to how individuals engage with other people, share information, drive conversations, and encourage others’ share of voice
    • Computational culture: refers to understanding the personal, ethical, social, economic, and cultural contexts in which people operate and considering them when producing computational products/works
