Abstraction 1: Intro to Abstraction

< Back to Building Block

In this project, the learner will define abstraction and put the concept to use in real-life examples. They will be asked to connect abstraction to the content being taught in their school subject. (estimated 60 min)

Learning Objectives

By the end of this activity, learners will be able to...

    • Define abstraction
    • Draw connections from day to day instructions and activities to identify connections

  • Abstraction: the concept of isolating key details while ignoring the remaining elements of a given idea

Materials and Resources

  • No outside resources needed

Learners will demonstrate mastery of knowledge in this project by identifying specific examples of their students' inability to abstract information and how that impacts their ability to perform across subjects.
